Sweetness is my Weakness

Parting with dessert is such sweet sorrow, "Anything can be part of a healthy diet when eaten in moderation." So, from low-cal options to portion-controlled indulgences…here’s 10 ways to safely satisfy your sweet tooth:

1.*Homemade chocolate pudding with low- or non-fat milk

2.*Meringues -- they're fat-free and low-cal, so having a few is ok.

3.*Biscotti (oblong, thick, brittle cookies designed to be dipped in coffee, cocoa, or wine)

4,*Your favorite ice cream in a 1/2 cup portion-control bowl.

5.*Fruit Sorbet

6.*Homemade ice cream sandwiches (graham crackers and reduced-fat ice cream)

7.*Fruit fondue, with dark chocolate

8.*Brownies or cookies cut in 1in. x 1in. portions

9.*Baked fruit

10.*Pre-portioned mini peanut butter cups (Trader Joe's)

*Recipe resources: Cooking Light(www.cookinglight.com) , Eating Well(www.EatingWell.com), Nubella(www.Nubella.com) Vegetarian Times(www.vegetariantimes.com) Health(www.Health.com)

Remember that the first few bites of any dessert are always the most enjoyable, so if you find yourself faced with a tempting plate, savor a taste and then share with friends. Bon Appetit!
